Maniratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan

Maniratnam is found very busy with the pre-production works of his magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan. He is in plans to start the shooting of the film very soon so that he can release it at least at the end of this year or early next year.
He has roped in director Vasanth in the production team and he will be providing creative inputs for the film. In fact Vasanth has done a through research on Ponniyin Selvan book and has earlier worked with Mani Ratnam. It's already confirmed that Vijay, Mahesh Babu and Arya are playing pivotal roles in the film while Anushka plays the female lead opposite Vijay.
Buzz in the tinsel town is that Satyaraj has been roped in to do an important role of the Buddhist monk Buddha Bikku, the Sri Lankan ascetic. Mani Ratnam felt that it's only Sathya Raj who can essay this role perfectly.
This is really true as Satya Raj adds appeal to any kind of role he plays, either a film, an ad promo or a T.V. show.
