                          Actor Namrata Shirodkar, wife of Tollywood actor G. Mahesh Babu, has alleged that the owner of Classic Hardware in the city has cheated her out of Rs 4.63 lakh. The accused, Mr Farhad Bin Ali, allegedly took Rs 8.5 lakh as advance for glass work for the couple’s new house at Road number 81 in Jubilee Hills. Namrata complained that he had delayed the work and issued cheques that had bounced. Jubilee Hills police registered a case under 406 IPC (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC against Mr Ali, a resident of Khilwat, as per directions of the 17th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Nampally. In the complaint, Namrata alleged that the accused, a service provider for grill work, had approached her knowing that she was constructing a new house and offered to provide his services.

               Based on Mr Ali’s request, Rs 8.5 lakh was paid to him as advance and it was agreed that it would be adjusted against the final bill after completion of the entire work. “Despite many requests, he delayed the work. The work done was not satisfactory. Vexed with his attitude and deliberate negligence to complete the work I have requested him to stop the work. He was asked to pay back the amount by deducting the value of work completed. Farhad gave it in writing that the value of work completed was Rs 3.65 lakh and promised to return the balance of Rs 4.63 lakh. He gave a cheque drawn on Barclays Bank, Banajra Hills branch for the amount. It bounced. When I brought this to his notice he issued another cheque of the same bank to the tune of Rs 2.25 lakh and it too was returned. He then issued another cheque on Axis Bank of Charminar for Rs 2.6 lakh and the same also bounced,” stated the actor in her complaint.
